The Bowhunting Preservation Alliance (BPA) was formed in 2002 to be a strong, unwavering advocate for bowhunting, hunting and conservation. Its main objective is to recruit new bowhunters while retaining experienced bowhunters. To do this, the BPA strives to provide leadership and vision while building strong alliances among and between the archery and bowhunting industry, bowhunting organizations, and state and federal agencies across North America.

The BPA's president and CEO is Jay McAninch, a former wildlife biologist in New York and Minnesota. "BPA is working to increase bowhunting opportunities, enhance public awareness about bowhunting, lower barriers to bowhunting, and unite bowhunters and bowhunting organizations," said McAninch. "The Archery Trade Association has agreed to cover the overhead costs for the BPA, which means every dollar we raise directly supports a bowhunting project."
