Cover Girl: Maria Lewis, ATA Trade Show Manager
The AB cover photo shows Lewis registering a big white-tailed buck she arrowed in October 2011 at Bluff Country Outfitters near Alma, Wis. Lewis, whose husband Mitch owns and operates an archery store in New Ulm, Minn., arrowed the buck at 20 yards. Patrick Durkin, ATA's contributing writer, photographed Lewis and guide Dan Treankler registering her buck. A few weeks later, Durkin submitted the photo to "Archery Business" as part of a manuscript package he wrote on retailer-run bowhunting contests. When "Archery Business" editor Mark Melotik designed the January 2012 issue, he chose Durkin's photo for the magazine's cover. Lewis works in the ATA's New Ulm, Minn., office, where she manages the ATA's annual Trade Show. Previously, she worked as the ATA's director of membership services. |
