Emily Beach Coordinator of Program Development

Emily Beach

Emily Beach of Maryland develops outdoor educational programs for archery and bowhunting. Her passion for conservation and getting youths into the woods helped drive her to create ATA programs such as Explore Bowhunting, Explore Archery and, more recently, Explore Bowfishing.

Emily’s career has taken her to city and county parks-and-recreation agencies in Maryland and Minnesota, where she taught outdoor education classes. She also worked for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in white-tailed deer research; and for the Bureau of Land Management, where she surveyed nesting sites of endangered birds in Oregon.

As an intern at the Minnesota DNR, Emily worked for Jay McAninch, who has worked as the ATA’s president/CEO since August 2000. When the ATA hired Emily more than a decade ago, she used her expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to assemble and map spatial data. In 2006, she began working on what is now Explore Bowhunting.

Emily says the best parts of her job are collaborating with multiple partner organizations to create curriculums. She also enjoys overcoming the unique challenges presented by each program.

Emily is a Level 2 archery instructor, as recognized by USA Archery, and she helped revise USA Archery’s Level 1 and Level 2 certification manuals. She enjoys backpacking and spending time with her husband and two children.
